Ogrun Assault Corps

These guys catch a lot of flak on the Privateer Press forums for being underpowered and too generalist. But I got a unit of them anyway. Why, you ask? Flavor, my friends. Flavor. That, and for some reason I have a deep love of Ogrun.

I tried to free-hand the crown and stars, which are the symbol for Llael, as I plan on running these guys in a Highborn Covenant list.

'Tried' being the operative word. :)

And here's one for a sense of scale - they're pretty big fellas.

I'm going to name them with names starting with A, B, C, D, and E, because on the stat card it shows health boxes for 'Model A', 'Model B' and so on and so forth. I figure, why not personalize the unit and give them all names? I'm thinking of naming them all in a certain theme, like Shakespeare names, or Names of Famous
Comic Book Characters.

  1. Could you talk a little about the colors you used on their flesh? Every tutorial in the world seems to assume you're painting something pink...

    1. Sure! Let me see... what did I do? I think I remember. It is a weird technique, and it involved quite a bit of trial and error, but I think it went something like this:

Basecoat black (Formula P3, if I recall correctly.)
GW Rhinox Hide (actually the old version of Rhinox hide before they changed all their paints, can't remember the name, but the color's basically the same.)
Overbrush GW Mournfang Brown (this interesting reddish brown... it doesn't show up in the photos very well though.)
A drybrush of P3 Ryn Flesh mixed with Mournfang Brown, maybe half and half or so.
A heavy wash of GW Agrax Earthshade

I feel like there is a possibility that I drybrushed full P3 Ryn Flesh over the highlights of everything before the wash, but I can't be sure. I need to keep a painting journal so that I know what I did to make a certain piece the way it was.

      Thanks for asking!

  2. Thanks for replying! They look really good. I'll try and figure out P3 paint equivs of the GW stuff, as I have a full set.
